Leebies BackupLog is a simple program that will allow you to backup and clear the Event Logs of any Windows XP, 2000, 2003 PC or Server with the double click of the program. You can also set up a task on your Windows machine, so that BackupLog will run daily or weekly and backup and clear the Event Logs.

  • Manual Backup: Simply create a folder (Example: Leebies BackupLog) and put BackupLog.exe into it. When you wish to backup and clear the Event Logs, simple navigate to that folder and double click the icon. All your event logs will be exported in seperate files, named by date and log name, example: dd-mm-yy-system log.evt
  • Automatic Backup: Local PC Version: Paste the location of the BackupLog.exe into Sheduled Tasks, and set it to run to your own specified shedule. The event logs will be saved in the same folder as the EXE.
  • Network Version: Paste the following line (customize to your computer settings):
    C:\Leebies BackupLog\BackupLog.exe \\server\backuplog\server1
The above code, once customised to your PC and network will allow you to run BackupLog on your system, and save the event file to a network location. If you have 10 servers for example, place the BackupLog.exe onto each server. Then create a Scheduled Task on each server, saving it to your shared directory. It is advizable to have a folder with each server name, and for the backups to go in their respective folders, else you will overwrite other servers log backups.

Note: There is no install, simply unzip and run - it's not a visible action, the named log files will simply appear in the nominated folder.
