DRV - A software driver For a hardware device.
Quite simply, a driver is a program that interacts with a particular device or special (frequently optional) kind of software. The driver contains the special knowledge of the device or special software interface that programs using the driver do not. In personal computers, a driver is often packaged as a dynamic link library (DLL) file.
Most items of hardware require a driver in order for Windows to be able to use it's full functions. Hardware manufacturers produce different drivers for different operating systems, so you need to be sure the correct driver is installed or you may get erratic function of the device, or none at all! You can normally download the drivers from their websites for free. |
